Canadian technology launches to International Space Station
Today NASA's SpaceX CRS-35 mission launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The Dragon cargo vehicle is carrying supplies for the International Space Station and a piece of Canadian technology that will be tested for the first time in microgravity.
ACTIS is a tool that supports the early detection of blood clots in astronauts on long-duration space missions. It works by testing the levels of a protein fragment called D-Dimer that is produced when blood clots break down. Blood clots can pose serious medical challenges, and rapid evaluation is essential for astronaut health.
