Future of Food – Growing minds

Grade level

Kindergarten to Grade 12

The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) is proud to support Let's Talk Science's Future of Food initiative, designed to engage students with the agri-food sector, space, and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The free, bilingual suite of programming from Let's Talk Science highlights the high-tech reality of modern food systems, connecting classroom learning directly to global challenges like climate change, AI, food security, and food sovereignty. Educators can also consult the CSA's toolkit on food production for additional resources and activities.

From the International Space Station to the classroom

The national campaign leverages the upcoming Crew-13 mission of CSA astronaut Joshua Kutryk aboard the International Space Station. Joshua grew up on a cattle farm in Alberta. He understands that technologies and processes to grow food in space could help address food security challenges on Earth.

Contest alert!

Educators across Canada who register for any program in the Future of Food portfolio by , will have a chance to be selected to host a rare live space-to-Earth Q&A session for their school where their students can speak directly with Joshua while he is in orbit.
