Second spacewalk for CSA astronaut Joshua Kutryk

Earlier today, Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronaut Colonel Joshua Kutryk conducted the second spacewalk of his career alongside NASA astronaut Anil Menon, just seven days after their previous extravehicular activity on . With today's six hours and 59 minutes spacewalk that led to the installation of another solar array, the upgrade campaign launched in to enhance the Station's power generation capacity is now complete. This technology, first tested less than a decade ago, is now helping power more scientific research aboard the International Space Station and extending its operational capabilities, while also informing solar power systems that could support future missions.

Joshua and Anil demonstrated strong teamwork during their complex spacewalks. Joshua highlighted the importance of the support received from their crewmates inside the Station and the dedicated NASA and CSA teams on the ground, calling them "masters of their craft."

The teams behind the first spacewalk were indeed back on duty today. NASA astronauts Luke Delaney and Jessica Watkins supported operations aboard the Station by manoeuvring Canadarm2 to help the pair perform their tasks. CSA astronaut Jenni Gibbons served as capcom from NASA's Johnson Space Center, while NASA and CSA robotic operators in Houston and Longueuil closely monitored the health of Canadarm2, ensuring the complex manoeuvres were executed as planned.
