Transcript
Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronaut Jenni Gibbons was in the capcom chair today to support her colleagues through their tasks. A capcom is the voice link between the ground and the spacecraft.
The crew prepared for their lunar flyby by reviewing a list of surface features on the Moon that they will photograph and analyze.
The CSA’s Jeremy Hansen and NASA’s Christina Koch took turns manually piloting Orion through a variety of tasks to provide data about the spacecraft’s capabilities.
At the end of the day, Orion was about 300,000 km from Earth, three-quarters of their way to the Moon.
During a space-to-Earth connection with the CSA, Jeremy and his crewmates answered questions from Canadians of all ages across the country.
They treated the audience to fun demonstrations, great answers and lots of laughter.
Using one of Orion’s outside cameras, the crew took “selfies” through one of the windows. These photos will give them eternal bragging rights during family reunions!
