Spicer Islands seen from space

The Spicer Islands are an uninhabited archipelago in Foxe Basin, Nunavut, characterized by their low-lying terrain and concentric rings of raised beach lines. Nearly indistinguishable from the surrounding sea during winter, they come into focus from space with the early summer decay of sea ice, as vivid turquoise waters and ocean currents of the melting season reveal their distinctive form.
