The Mackenzie river delta in the Canadian Arctic

Satellite image of the MacKenzie River Delta.

This mid-summer Sentinel-2 and RADARSAT Constellation Mission satellite image shows sediment discharge from the Mackenzie River into the Arctic Ocean. Brown water indicates more sediment, while blue water indicates less sediment concentration. Orange marks vegetation cover in the delta.

Satellites help monitor this river's vast delta and track its influence on Arctic sea ice and global climate patterns.  (Credit: Sentinel-2 and RADARSAT Constellation Mission)
