Exercising with a fly wheel aboard Orion

The fly wheel facilitates aerobic exercises in space, like rowing and resistance workouts

To counteract the muscle and bone loss that microgravity can cause, the Artemis II crew will commit to 30 minutes of daily exercise. Orion is equipped with a practical solution, the fly wheel, also used to facilitate aerobic exercises like rowing, and resistance workouts such as squats and deadlift. It operates as a yo-yo, providing resistance proportional to the force applied, with a maximum capacity of 180 kg. (Credit: NASA)
