CSA astronaut presentation among highlights of AstroFest activities in Montreal
About 4000 people came to AstroFest, a fun-filled day focused on astronomy and Moon exploration at the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium in Montreal on May 7.
The festivities were free and included specialised telescopes for close-up views at the sun and moon, a presentation by astronaut David Saint-Jacques, workshops and arts and crafts, and information booths by the CSA and .......
Jean Dupuis, Space Astronomy Senior Mission Scientist at the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), participated in a panel discussion on the James Webb Space Telescope. He highlighted Canada's role in the groundbreaking mission and described how Canada's scientific instrument aboard Webb, the Near-Infrared Imager and Slitless Spectograph (NIRISS), will be critical in learning more about the evolution of galaxies.
Later in the evening, CSA astronaut David Saint-Jacques presented Canada's role in lunar exploration to hundreds of lucky spectators. In case you missed it, watch the presentation.
AstroFest was a real treat for all the senses this past Saturday. Musical entertainment provided by Grüv'n Brass got the audience moving! The CSA also debuted tracks from its new Moon-themed Spotify playlist.
The evening was capped with nighttime star-gazing using a variety of telescopes on the grounds. Viewers were able to admire the Moon and much more!
