NASA astronaut Alan B. Shepard, Jr., mission commander, watches a technician conduct spacesuit checks during a demonstration test. Apollo 14 was the third crewed lunar landing, the first crewed landing in exploration of the lunar highlands, and it demonstrated pinpoint landing capability.
