Canada in Space temporary exhibition
Canada in Space, a temporary exhibition presented in partnership with Canadian Heritage, features Canada's contributions to human space flight and to space exploration. On display in downtown Ottawa, this exhibition celebrates key milestones in Canadian space history, from our first space flights to the Artemis II mission.
Looking back on Canadian space history
The exhibition highlights the contributions of Canadian astronauts to international missions and the advancement of scientific knowledge, such as:
- the very first space flight of Canadian astronaut Marc Garneau
- the 25th anniversary of the first spacewalk of a Canadian astronaut (Chris Hadfield)
- the Artemis II mission, during which Jeremy Hansen became the first Canadian to participate in a crewed lunar mission

Showcasing Canada's expertise in space robotics
Canada is recognized for its expertise in space robotics, and has played a key role in the International Space Station through Canadarm2, Dextre and the Mobile Base.
The exhibition presents not only this unique knowledge, but also its impacts. For example, technologies from Canadarm2 and Dextre have led to medical tools that improve treatment of complex conditions and enhance patient outcomes.

Banners along Confederation Boulevard
In addition to the exhibition, commemorative banners are being flown along Confederation Boulevard in Ottawa and Gatineau to highlight two key milestones:
- The 25th anniversary of Mission STS-100, during which the Canadarm2 robotic arm was installed on the International Space Station. This mission marked the first spacewalk by a Canadian astronaut, Chris Hadfield.
- Artemis II, the first crewed lunar mission in over 50 years. The crew included Jeremy Hansen, the first Canadian to venture into space beyond low Earth orbit.
