Biography

Ali is an Executive Research Coordinator at the University of British Columbia (UBC), managing the Programming Languages for Artificial Intelligence group at UBC. He is also the Moon Village Implementation Support Officer at the Moon Village Association, incoming Chair of the International Astronautical Federation’s Space Education and Outreach Committee, and Vice Chair of its Workforce Development/Young Professionals Programme Committee. Prior to joining UBC, he worked as an aerospace consultant with Defence Research and Development Canada, and completed a European Commission funded Marie Curie Early Stage Research Fellowship at ISI Foundation in Italy. A physicist and an engineer, Ali has had several years of experience conducting research on magnetic materials, space launch/propulsion systems, space safety and sustainability, and concepts of operation for space applications among other topics. Ali is a former Chair and Honorary Board Member of the Space Generation Advisory Council.
