Guennadi Kroupnik, Acting Senior Vice-President, Space Programs

Guennadi Kroupnik is the Acting Senior Vice-President, Space Programs at the Canadian Space Agency.

Mr. Kroupnik holds a Master of Aerospace Engineering from Concordia University (Montreal), and the PMP certification from the Project Management Institute.

He has over 30 years of engineering, functional, program, and executive management experience in the space sector. Mr. Kroupnik has contributed significantly to the success of R&D activities, development, launch and operations of complex space missions, from highly innovative microsatellites to large-scale constellations in the Earth observation, space situational awareness, and satellite communications domains.

In close collaboration with other government departments, international partners, and industrial teams, Mr. Kroupnik has led development, deployment, and operations of the RADARSAT Constellation Mission – the flagship Earth observation mission of the Canadian space program – and is actively involved in RADARSAT+, an array of follow-on initiatives designed to ensure service and data continuity. He also leads a portfolio of missions and activities in the domain of Earth system science. In collaboration with his colleagues from Environment and Climate Change Canada and Natural Resources Canada, Mr. Kroupnik contributed to the development of Canada's Strategy for Satellite Earth Observation and is helping oversee its implementation.

Mr. Kroupnik is an internationally recognized expert in satellite matters. He has been invited to contribute to international bodies like the Coordinating Group for Meteorological Satellites (CGMS), the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), and the Expert Team on Satellite Matters (ET-SAT) of the World Meteorological Organization. He represented the Canadian Space Agency on the Board of the International Charter Space and Major Disasters, and is the Canadian Principal in the international Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS).
