Alouette-1 model

Launched on September 29, 1962, the Alouette 1 scientific satellite marked Canada’s entry into the space age and was seen by many as initiating one of the most progressive space programs of that era. With the Alouette-1 launch, Canada became the third nation, after the Russian and American superpowers, to design and build an Earth satellite. (Credit: Communications Research Center Canada (CRC))
