eSpace
From July 22, 2009 to January 10, 2010

Inspired by the 40th anniversary of man’s first steps on the Moon, the McCord Museum of Canadian History unveils its newest exhibition. eSpace highlights the impact of space exploration in both popular culture and imagination. This exhibition will guide you through two historical firsts of the Canadian Space Program:

  • Dr. Robert (Bob) Thirsk, the first Canadian Space Agency astronaut to take part in a long duration mission aboard the International Space Station
  • Two Canadian Space Agency astronauts (Julie Payette and Bob Thirsk) on-orbit aboard the station at the same time

We invite you to visit eSpace, developed in collaboration with the Canadian Space Agency, from July 22, 2009 to January 10, 2010.

Sports in Space

The CSA celebrates the spirit of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games by unveiling an exclusive exhibit in West Vancouver

In collaboration with the West Vancouver Community Center Spirit Square, the Canadian Space Agency will be taking Olympic sports-and science-to new heights with a new public exhibit from February 10-March 21, 2010.

A fun, interactive and free learning experience for families, this self-guided exhibit explores the science of space through sport. Enjoy scale models of the International Space Station, Canadarm2 and Dextre and gain a sense of what it's really like to live, work and play in space-and why exercise is a critical part of every astronaut's day. See the Olympic jersey signed by the Canadian athletes and worn by Canadian Space Agency Astronaut Julie Payette when she last flew in space. Follow the physics of golfing on the Moon. Find out if Canucks can play hockey on Mars or just how far and fast your slap shot would travel on the Red Planet.

Calling all Educators! Learn more about the Educational Explorations Program (even if you can't teleport your classroom to Vancouver, you can still take part!)
