Hello and welcome to the International Space Station!
I’m Thomas Pesquet, an astronaut for the
European Space Agency.
I would like today to thank the many educators across Canada
who brought the Junior Astronauts campaign to thousands of youth
by completing campaign activities with them.
And congratulations to all young Canadians who rose to the challenge
and tested their knowledge and
abilities
in science and technology, fitness and nutrition, and teamwork and communication.
These three streams are very important for astronauts.
I would also like to congratulate the 52 space enthusiasts
who won a spot in the virtual Junior Astronaut Camp.
Like you, I had the chance to spend time with Canadian Space Agency experts
before my first space mission.
They taught me to operate Canadarm2, the space station’s robotic arm.
I encourage you to ask questions, benefit from the CSA’s expertise
and make the most out of your
experience.
It’s a unique opportunity!
