Transcript

Chris Hadfield:

I'm here at the European Astronaut Centre. We're training in preparation for our launch and our six months onboard the International Space Station.

Specifically, I'm here to train on the Columbus module, the European laboratory that is part of the Space Station. I'm a specialist on its systems so not only all the experiments that are inside the European module but of course also all of the humidity control and temperature control and electrical power and all of the plumbing and the systems that might need to be fixed and maintained inside.

And so I'm here to refresh my knowledge of those, to understand the changes or the differences that have happened since the module was launched a few years ago and of course to be completely qualified and ready for our crew's launch in November 2012.

Note: The launch is now scheduled for December 2012.
