Lisa Campbell: Today, we celebrate the 30th anniversary of Dr. Roberta Bondar’s historic mission.
Dr. Bondar was the first Canadian woman in space, and the first Canadian to fly on the space shuttle after the Challenger accident.
As a neurologist, she worked with scientists from countries around the world, to develop the many experiments she would conduct on her flight.
In many ways, her flight was a precursor for the international science experiments conducted on the ISS today.
Dr. Bondar exemplifies courage and perseverance.
Her mission influenced generations of young women to be explorers in Canada. And we will continue to build on her legacy.
