Junior Astronaut Camp – Enter the contest

Important note – May 13, 2020

The health and safety of young Canadians and our personnel is our top priority. That is why we have decided to postpone the Junior Astronaut Camp to summer 2021. Registration will remain open until February 28, 2021. Kids are encouraged to do Junior Astronauts activities at home during the physical distancing period.

If you submitted your entry package on or before April 30:

  • We will keep your file active for next year. No further action is required from you or your parents.
  • If you are moving to Grade 10 (Secondary 4 in Quebec) in the next school year, you will remain eligible for the camp.
  • We are acknowledging the effort to complete activities in all three streams before the original deadline by giving these entries two chances in the draw to win a spot for the camp.

If you submit your entry package after April 30:

  • You must be enrolled in grade 6 through 9 (Grade 6 through Secondary 3 in Quebec) in the 2020–2021 school year.

Please read our FAQ and Terms and Conditions for more information.

Important note – March 20, 2020

A few people have asked us if the Junior Astronaut camp will still take place this summer despite what is happening at the moment with the COVID-19. The camp is maintained for now. However, given the rapidly evolving situation, we are continually monitoring and assessing it, and will post an update in April.

In the meantime, given the impact of COVID-19 on schools, youth organizations and communities, we are making the following changes to our contest to win a spot to our Junior Astronaut camp:

  • We are extending the registration deadline to April 30, 2020 to allow participants to finalize activities at home and complete their application.
  • The Junior Astronauts activities are now available to the public without registration. This is meant to alleviate the process – and to help you keep your kids busy during these uncertain times.
  • Parents will be able to download and sign the certificate of participation for each of the three streams once their kids complete an activity. We ask that you simply indicate “at home” in the school/organization field.
  • In order to limit assemblies during this period when social distancing is essential, we are waiving the obligation to do the activities in a group. The three streams include options of activities that are better adapted to do individually or with members of your immediate family. For the “Teamwork and communication” stream, we encourage you to make a personal patch as part of the “Patchmaker, Patchmaker, Make me a Patch” activity and to drop the crew patch if necessary (or make a family patch).

If you want to have a chance to win a spot at our Junior Astronaut Camp in Summer 2021, ask one of your parents or a legal guardian to complete the entry process below on your behalf before February 28, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. PT. We will randomly select four participants from every province and territory to attend the camp.
