Canadarm2 deftly handles the Exposed Pallet

2009-09-25 - Canadarm2, operated by Canadian Space Agency Astronaut Robert Thirsk, grips the empty Exposed Pallet (EP). The EP was successfully returned to the unpressurized compartment of the Japanese H-II Transfer Vehicle (HTV). To slide the EP into the drawer-like compartment, Bob Thirsk utilized a technology called Force Moment Accommodation, which gave Canadarm2 a “sense of touch” that prevented jamming of the pallet’s wheels.
