The infographic features a map of Canada with statistics on applications for the astronaut recruitment campaign.

There is circled information on each province and territory:

  1. the number of people who completed an application there, and
  2. the percentage of the total number of completed applications.

Here are the statistics in detail.

  • Yukon: 9 people; 0.2%
  • Northwest Territories: 7 people; 0.2%
  • Nunavut: 3 people; 0.1%
  • British Columbia: 372 people; 9.9%
  • Alberta: 555 people; 14.7%
  • Saskatchewan: 85 people; 2.3%
  • Manitoba: 74 people; 2.0%
  • Ontario: 1,292 people; 34.3%
  • Quebec: 811 people; 21.5%
  • New Brunswick: 36 people; 1.0%
  • Nova Scotia: 92 people; 2.4%
  • Prince Edward Island: 13 people; 0.3%
  • Newfoundland and Labrador: 49 people; 1.3%

374 people outside Canada completed an application, which is 9.9% of the total number of 3,772.

69% of the applications were completed by men and 24% by women. The other 7% did not declare their sex, which is subject to voluntary disclosure.

Lastly, the five Canadian cities (census metropolitan areas) with the largest numbers of aspiring astronauts are Montreal (441 people), Toronto (391 people), Ottawa-Gatineau (295 people), Calgary (294 people) and Vancouver (256 people).
