Surface ice velocity across the St. Elias Mountains

2016-03-11 - This image shows the velocity of ice movement across the St. Elias Mountains, derived from RADARSAT-2 imagery between February and April 2012. The underlying image was acquired by Landsat 8 in August 2013. Heavy red lines indicate primary ice divides, and a colour scale is used to display the speed of ice movement. The fastest moving areas, indicated in red and yellow, show how the ice is moving like a river network from mountaintops down towards the ocean. (Credit: Waechter et al.
