Spare robotic hand for Canadarm2

2015-11-16 – With the support of the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), a specialized robotics team from MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. is testing the latching end effector (LEE), a part that is located on each end of Canadarm2. At the CSA's David Florida Laboratory, this spare hand is subjected to vacuum testing in temperatures ranging from -25 to 60 degrees Celsius. The purpose of the tests is to verify that the equipment is able to withstand the arid vacuum of space so that it can be used on the International Space Station, if required.
