Wind Imaging Interferometer (WINDII)

WINDII was built by Canada in collaboration with France for NASA's Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS). UARS was launched from the Space Shuttle Discovery on September 12, 1991, and it is the first observatory in NASA's Mission to Planet Earth. WINDII is one of ten instruments that provide new measurements of the physical and chemical processes in the atmosphere 10 to 300 km above the surface of the Earth. (Credit: Canadian Space Agency)
