Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada

Have you ever been to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia? Well, we are offering you the opportunity to have a simulated flight through the Cape Breton region.

How RADARSAT's First Movie was Made

First, the RADARSAT Image was colour enhanced using PCI EASI/PACE software to create a coulourized image.

Second, a 1:250,000 scale Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED) set was purchased from the Canada Map Office in Sherbrooke, Quebec. The RADARSAT Image was registered to the DTED using a variety of ground control points.

Then the RADARSAT image was draped upon the DTED file producing the 3D perspective data sets. Using the FLY! Software from PCI, a simulated flight path was selected and executed. The data sets were digitally recorded to a JPEG file and then converted the MPEG.

The results produce an interesting view of the RADARSAT image in a relatively small data set. Persons wishing to view the flight can select an MPEG viewer from a source provided below and download the two MPEG files that follow.
