An agreement between NASA and the CSA is now in place that will allow U.S. researchers observation time on Canada's MOST space telescope. MOST is operated and normally used exclusively by the MOST science team, with the support of the Canadian Space Agency (CSA). With this U.S. Guest Observer Program, up to 1/6 of the science observation time for 2009 will be available to U.S. astronomers. NASA will conduct and fund a competition, open to U.S. researchers, to select the best science proposals exploiting the unique capabilities of MOST (feasibility will be assessed by the MOST science team).
Since operations began in 2003, the scientific output of the MOST satellite has been well demonstrated and recognized by the international community. This program illustrates the enduring collaboration to between CSA and NASA and will allow the best scientific returns to the participants as well as benefit to the broader science community.
