Trying to launch a spacecraft with seven people and 2.2 million pounds of fuel on board in the late afternoon, in the middle of July, in scorching hot and humid Florida is not a piece of cake. Invariably, there will be electrical activity in the air, nearby, and our flight rules are very strict: we do not launch if there are thunderstorms within a 12-mile radius of the launching pad. And that’s a good thing!

But everything comes to those who wait.
Liftoff at 6:03 p.m. EDT tomorrow, 15 July 2009.
We are ready!
Ad astra!
