STS-113 Mission Overview

The main objective of this mission was the installation of one of a series of eleven truss segments, which will ultimately expand the Station to the length of a Canadian football field and increase its power through the addition of new modules and solar arrays.

During this mission the Canadian Mobile Base System, located atop of the Mobile transporter slided for the first time along the rails of the Space Station, taking its first ride in space. The Mobile Base moved Canadarm2 to the opposite side of the Station to install the truss pieces and support Extravehicular Activitiy (EVA) crews.

The Canadian Mobile Base System (MBS) and Canadarm2 joined forces to assemble the International Space Station.
