This program is directed primarily at upper middle year students (grade 9). Since no specific telecommunications topics are covered in the Pan Canadian Protocol, this activity may be used to address the following grade 9 components:

Goal of Activity

Satellite telecommunications have a major influence on Canadian and other societies.Physical limitations caused by the finite speed of light appear from time to time, but in most cases are perceived as mere annoyances. In cases where long time delays in communications are coupled with the delicate operation of equipment, these limitations can become frustrating and hazardous. This resource simulates this environment and allows students to explore the implications of time delayed telecommunications through a memorable activity.
