Assignment

The charts below show absorption lines that occur on a bright, flat continuum. The intensity units are arbitrary. For larger charts (for student use) print the transparency masters on white paper and make photocopies as required.

1. The graph above shows an absorption spectrum.

Identify, as accurately as possible, the wavelength at the centre of each absorption line.

Using your identified wavelengths and the chart provided on Fact Sheet 5, identify the element responsible for the absorption lines.

2. The graph above shows an absorption spectrum.

Identify, as accurately as possible, the wavelength at the centre of each absorption line.

Using your identified wavelengths and the chart provided on Fact Sheet 5 identify the element responsible for the absorption lines.

3. The graph above shows an absorption spectrum.

Identify, as accurately as possible, the wavelength at the centre of each absorption line.

Using your identified wavelengths and the chart provided on Fact Sheet 5 identify the element responsible for the absorption lines.

4. The graph above shows an absorption spectrum.

Identify, as accurately as possible, the wavelength at the centre of each absorption line.

Using your identified wavelengths and the chart provided on Fact Sheet 5 identify the element responsible for the absorption lines.
